FAQ

Short answers before your first visit

Membership, age, costs, legality, drinks, phones and photos, answered from the club's own pages and rule book.

Is this The Fort Card Room's website?

No. Loot Brook is an independent guide. The club's own site is thefortcardroom.com and its phone is (817) 441-1045. We cannot sell memberships, hold seats or answer for the club.

Do I need a membership for a free tournament?

Yes. The membership page says membership is required to take part in any cash or tournament game, so a $0 Free Bullet still needs at least the $10 daily tier. The club does not say anywhere what else, if anything, qualifies you for a free bullet.

How old do I have to be?

21. The membership page and item 1 of the membership agreement both say so. The footer disclaimer on every club page says 19, which looks out of date. This guide asks visitors to confirm they are 18 or over only to read it.

What does one evening cost?

Membership plus seat time, before any chips. Four hours of $1/2 NLH on a daily membership is $10 + 4 × $8 = $42. Six hours of $1/3 NLH is $10 + 6 × $12 = $82, or $77 if you buy the 5-hour deal ($55) and pay one hour at $12.

Is the club legal?

Texas has no license for poker rooms. Clubs like this one rely on a defense in Texas Penal Code §47.02(b): play in a private place, nobody takes an economic benefit other than winnings, and the odds are the same for everyone. The Fort's FAQ says it takes no money from pots and earns from membership fees and seat charges. Whether those fees count as an economic benefit has never been settled statewide; see our Texas law page. We found no reported case against The Fort.

Does the club sell alcohol?

No. Its FAQ says the club is BYOB: you can bring alcohol, staff will store it and serve it to you, and you must be 21.

Can I take pictures inside?

Not of people or the room: house rule 38 bans recording members, staff, the facility or its operations. Shooting your own cards or the board is possible only with an OK from management, under rule 31.

Are there house players?

The rules allow them. Rule 30 says the club may use shills and proposition players and that management will identify them on request.

Can I use my phone at the table?

Yes, if it doesn't slow the game, but not on the felt. You may text only when your cards are folded, and never to another player at your table (rules 25 and 26).

When does it close?

The club's pages give three answers: 4 a.m. on the contact page, and “until the game is done” in the footer and the FAQ. Call for the night you plan to go.

How do I report a mistake on this site?

Email hello@lootbrook.com with the page and what changed. A link or a photo of the posted price is the fastest way for us to fix it.
